Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong and his LiveStrong campaign have inspired millions in the fight against cancer. Now he's launched a wellness website together with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to promote healthy living and help prevent disease. Gayle talks with the cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France winner about his online venture, LiveStrong.com.
Whereas LiveStrong.org is a nonprofit resource center for cancer survivors and their families, Lance says LiveStrong.com, a for-profit venture, focuses on providing visitors with the information they need to prevent illness. "LiveStrong.com is a totally separate place," he says. "It's for health and fitness and lifestyle and wellness and all these things we know we should be doing."
With over 600,000 pages of content related to diet, exercise, nutrition, stress management and more, Lance says LiveStrong.com is a "robust" site that will help both beginners and seasoned athletes embrace healthier lifestyles. "If we [want to] maximize our potential as people or as athletes, we really paid attention to our health and habits, don't smoke, exercise properly—[LiveStrong.com] is for that," he says.
