LL Cool J has accumulated 11 consecutive platinum albums, and with those six-pack abs, he's not bad to look at either! Gayle talks with LL about his new book, LL Cool J's Platinum Workout, and his secrets to a great, fit body!
LL says he didn't always have the chiseled body he sports now. He decided to write the book after he looked in the mirror a few years ago and was dissatisfied with what he saw. "I felt like I wanted to change some things," he says. "I looked in the mirror and it looked like someone took a pebble and tossed it into a pond and it was rippling. So I said, 'You know what? I want to change my life.'"
LL's book is divided into sections for different levels of fitness: the Bronze body, Silver body, Gold body and Platinum body. Additionally, there is a special Diamond body program for women who want to get in shape quickly. The book is filled with motivating quotes, workout schedules and menu plans.
LL says he doesn't like to work out—in fact he hates it! He says he works with a trainer who can keep him on track and that he follows his diet 85 to 90 percent of the time, so he can leave 10 percent open for the sweets he loves—peach cobbler and ice cream.
LL says he wrote the book to help people just like him stay motivated, consistent and enthusiastic. "You want to be in the best shape of your life, you want to work out, you want to look great, you want feel great, but it's so difficult to make the sacrifices necessary to take your life to that next level when it comes to getting in shape.
"This is a book for you that can help change your life and help you stay motivated and kind of scream in your ear a little bit."
