She's best known for her role as Winnie Cooper on the TV hit The Wonder Years, but today, actress and author Danica McKellar is pursuing another passion—math. Danica talks with Gayle about her book Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss, which gives young girls real-world examples of how math is relevant in their everyday lives.
Danica says she grew up being fearful of math until good teachers taught her that math could be fun. "The feeling at that age of thinking you can't do something and then overcoming that—now you've gained confidence that's going to stay with you way past that one math problem," Danica says. "That's the kind of self-esteem building I want to give to children at that age."
