Judging others about the choices they make is easy to do, but Dr. Robin says it's not your place to critique their decisions. "How presumptuous of you and me to think that we know what someone else can live with," she says. "Survey your own heart and your mind and spirit and see whether or not you're walking around judging people as if you know the answer for what someone else should be doing."
Whether it's your sibling, neighbor or best friend, Dr. Robin says you may not really know the reason why someone makes the life choices they do. While not passing judgment can be difficult, Dr. Robin says it will make you a better person in the long run. "Let's kick judgment to the curb—it gets in the way of being spiritually and emotionally the best you can be," she says.
