This Father's Day, Dr. Robin encourages us to honor and celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers or other father figures who have touched our lives in a meaningful way. If you yourself are a father to someone, she says now is the perfect time to rise to the occasion and be the best dad you can be.
For Dr. Robin, Father's Day is a special time for remembering her own beloved father, who passed away in 1990. As a physician and minister, Dr. Robin says her own father was a man of integrity, compassion and humility. "He lived what he believed, he lived a life of justice," she says. Because of his generous and loving spirit, Dr. Robin says her father helped her to grow into the woman she is today.
Dr. Robin says her father taught her the most valuable lesson on fatherhood because he was always present to lend support and show his love for her. In fact, she says the best gift a dad can give his children is himself. "What they need is you," she says. "They need your heart, they need your mind, they need to know that they're on your screen."
Make this Father's Day meaningful by not only remembering your dad, but by stepping up and being the best father you can be, Dr. Robin says. "As a dad, as a grandfather, as a man in someone's life, you have the opportunity today to gift a child who's still searching, trying to figure out whether they're competent and capable," she says. "Gift someone this Father's Day with your blessing, with your smile, with your go get 'em [attitude]!"
