Fear manifests itself in many different ways, and it will always get in the way of allowing the law of attraction to work for you, Michael says. He identifies some of the most common types of fear and how to overcome each one:
- Fear of "What if it doesn't work for me?": This fear, like all fears, is about something in the future, Michael says. Because it hasn't happened yet, it's a fear that is false, even though it appears to be real, he says. To overcome this fear, change your thoughts from "What if it doesn't work?" to "This is the way I'd like things to be." "If you're going to project something in the future, project a more positive image or a more positive thought or a more positive outcome," he says
- Fear of success: People often fear the change that success will bring, not success itself, Michael says. Pay attention to your fearful thoughts and reset them by eliminating the words "don't," "not,'" and "no" and setting forth thoughts of what you do want instead.
- Fear of "This is really different from what I grew up with": Challenging long-held beliefs can be scary, Michael says. "A belief is a repetitive thought," he says. "It doesn't mean it's right; it just means that you've repeated it so much so that it becomes your belief," he says. Michael says you can change your beliefs by asking yourself whether the belief is true. For example, if you've always believed everyone in your family was overweight, Michael suggests you find proof or evidence that members of the same family can be of varied weights.
