Have Your Child Try New Things

A "no thank you bite" is a good way to get kids to try new and healthy foods. "Whenever we are introducing a new food—and oftentimes it is a vegetable that they have never tried—we put just a little on their plates and we say, 'Okay, I need to see you take a 'no thank you bite''—and they do," Tanya says. "Kids take more than a dozen times to get used to the taste and texture of something new, so after those dozen times, often times they are very acclimatized to it and they think, 'You know what? This is actually good.'" If they don't like a food after a dozen tries, Tanya says you can move on to something new.
