Dr. Robin Smith
Recently, Dr. Robin was overdue for a routine dental cleaning and says that as a result of the delay, the hygienist had to perform a deep cleaning. Dr. Robin says she appreciated that the hygienist was giving her a thorough cleaning, despite the pain. "I don't want a surface cleaning for something that needs deep cleaning," Dr. Robin says. "I don't want [the hygienist] to miss an area just because maybe it will hurt a little more than it might had I come when I was supposed to," she says.

In your personal life, Dr. Robin says ignoring an issue in your marriage or a problem with your child can also have painful consequences. "You might be telling yourself, 'It hurts' or 'I am so scared to have that conversation with my loved one about what I am really feeling,'" she says. "There is one thing I am certain of—if you avoid the situation on your plate, it doesn't magically go away."

Sometimes dealing with the pain of a "deep clean" in your life, mind, body or spirit will give you the strength you need to reach your destiny in life, Dr. Robin says. "If you do the work, you pay the price and you suffer whatever pain is necessary now—you will reap if you faint not," she says.
