After nine years of marriage, Deb Gotti says she's ready to leave her cheating husband, music mogul Irv Gotti. The couple's ongoing saga played out in the second season of VH1's reality TV show Gotti's Way. Deb and Gayle sit down for some straight talk about Deb and Irv's marital struggles and why Deb says she's finally moving on.
Deb says she was raised to believe a good wife sticks by her husband's side, no matter how he behaves. But after Irv, president and CEO of Murder Inc. Records, confessed to infidelity, Deb says she wants to teach her three children—especially her daughter—that cheating is wrong and shouldn't be tolerated. "I'm breaking that cycle," she says. "I don't want her to feel like she has to stay in a bad relationship because that's what my mom did, that's what my grandmother did." Gayle expresses her concerns for Deb's well-being, but supports her decision, saying she "deserves better." Deb says that while she has reservations about what the future holds, she's been seeing a helpful therapist and is determined to go through with the divorce. "I can't see [Irv] changing. … We're better off being friends than being in a relationship," she says. Published on January 01, 2008
