Each of us will face some hardship or trial in life that knocks us down and threatens to destroy our very being, Dr. Robin says. But each of us is capable of resilience, and each of us can make a choice to give up or carry on. "Even when you get cut down by something at your knees and your heart feels like it has been ripped into pieces and into shreds, there is a way to rebuild your life," she says.
Dr. Robin shares the following advice to help you begin the process of living your best life in spite of anything that may come your way in life:
Have a community of support. No one can make the journey of life alone, Dr. Robin says. Find safe, nonjudgmental people who will hold your hand and walk with you through the fire.
Practice good self-care. Others may be counting on you for strength, Dr. Robin says, so it's important to feed your own spirit—even in your darkest hour.
