Dr. Robin says that all too often we get stuck doing the same things yet expect to see different results. You might be trying to lose weight, yet you continue to eat the same foods and get the same amount of exercise. Chances are, the numbers on the scale won't budge and your body will stay the same. Or, you might want a better relationship with your spouse, yet you keep saying and doing the same things. Once again, Dr. Robin says you can be sure that your relationship won't evolve and grow.
To truly change your circumstances in life, you need to change your behaviors, Dr. Robin says. "The reason your circumstance has not changed is because you're doing the same thing the same way and expecting a different result," she says. Only when you begin to take different actions will you experience different outcomes—and make real progress toward your goals. "You've got to break your cycle," she says. "You've got to break the way that you've been doing business as usual."
