There are those who believe that the stars guide their every move, and those who scoff at the very notion. While Gayle isn't rushing to read her horoscope in the daily paper, she is interested in hearing about her personal chart from celebrity astrologist Shelley Ackerman. Who wouldn't be?
Shelley says she knows that there's a lot of skepticism about her work. "Astrologists are the bastard children of the universe," she laughs. "We're used to it, and we're over it." Shelley believes that astrology can help people find their way in life. "Astrology comes in handy to help give a language to articulate, explain and hopefully empower individuals, based on understanding the specifics of their chart." She says that her goal for the horoscopes she writes for the New York Post and other outlets is to provide a meaningful, inspirational thought for the day.
Looking at Gayle's chart, Shelley notes that Gayle is a double Capricorn—Capricorn with Capricorn rising. Capricorn children often seem grown up before their time, according to Shelley. They're ambitious and project-oriented, with a sense of what needs to be done. Capricorn is also a sign of tradition and of someone concerned with doing things the right way. Gayle says she can see where that might apply to her. With her moon in Aquarius, Gayle tends to be globally and community-minded, with her sense of identity aligned with something bigger than herself, Shelley says. Shelley also sees an enormous amount of intensity in Gayle's personal life, including the possibility of romance in late '07 or early '08!
