In honor of Mother's Day, Dr. Angelou shares personal stories about her own mother and talks with callers about what motherhood means to them. One caller whose mother is now in her 80s recounts the generosity of spirit and love with which her mother raised her and her 16 siblings. Another caller shares how her mother appeared to her in a dream to reassure her that she was in a better place and, as mothers often tell their children, not to worry.
Other callers recall the wonderful gifts their mothers passed on to them before they passed away—not material things, but a wealth of wisdom and happy memories that continue to enrich their lives today. "Mothers have the ability to liberate by love or, by neglect, to imprison," Dr. Angelou says. "They're our first teachers; they are our first loves."
