Gayle King and Bernie Mac
Gayle welcomes comedian Bernie Mac to the show to talk about his new movie, Pride, a sports drama about the creation of the Philadelphia Department of Recreation's mostly African-American swim team in 1971. Bernie says he gets to showcase his dramatic acting talents in the film, which he says is a pleasant change of pace from his usual comedic roles. Having starred in The Bernie Mac Show for five successful years on television, Bernie tells Gayle about his plans to retire from stand-up later this year, but says his fans will still be seeing a lot of him in film and other projects. Plus, Bernie talks about the most important women in his life—his wife Rhonda, his mother and his grandmother—who he credits with much of his success for their advice and for believing in him throughout the years.
