Retirement has long been seen as a time to relax after years in the working world. These days, people in the over-50 crowd are challenging that view, with many leaving work to become entrepreneurs, college students, world travelers, professors, consultants and other active members of society. Dr. Oz talks with AARP CEO Bill Novelli about the organization's focus on issues facing this new generation of aging Americans.
The AARP is committed to educating the public, offering services to members and working with politicians to change policy that could impact people over 50. And because the current generation of retiring Americans is so much more active than prior generations, Bill says baby boomers will play a large role in the way Americans invest in the aging population. "The boomers are a huge force of change," Bill says. "What we need to do is get busy, make the changes to make society better, and as a country we can do this," he says.
