The psychological thriller Awake offers an interesting commentary on an uncommon but very scary potential complication that can occur during heart surgery. The story focuses on a man who suffers "anesthetic awareness" during open heart surgery, which renders him awake and aware, but paralyzed and unable to tell his doctors. Dr. Oz talks with the movie's director, Joby Harold, and supporting actors Lena Olin and Fisher Stevens about the making of the film and the medical issues referenced throughout.
