![]() Dr. Robin says that she recently applied a well-known verse from the Bible to her own life: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you." Dr. Robin says that verse rang true when her 85-year-old mother recently scheduled cataract surgery and needed help getting to and from the appointment. Dr. Robin says she was overwhelmed with responsibilities and didn't think that she could take her mom to the appointment, so she called her sister, who said she would take on the responsibility. "If I didn't ask, the door wasn't going to be open," Dr. Robin says. "If I wasn't seeking help outside of myself, I was going to take on more than I could bear."
What responsibilities are you juggling in your own life? How can you redistribute those tasks? Dr. Robin says if you're feeling overwhelmed, you must ask, seek and knock. "Make sure you are asking the right person the right question," she says. "You've got to make sure that the place you are seeking is fertile with opportunity, you've got to make sure you are knocking on the right door. Don't mess up your opportunity."
