Rick Fox made a name for himself in the '90s as a professional basketball player, but these days he has another passion—acting. Rick talks to Gayle about his role in Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns.
After moving from the Bahamas to the United States at the age of 14 to play basketball, Rick spent 13 years in the NBA with the Boston Celtics and later the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, Rick tackles the role of lead actor in Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, a romantic drama about the power of love and family. Rick says he feels blessed that his childhood dreams of being both and athlete and an actor came true.
Rick says the road to success wasn't always easy. He dealt with many struggles growing up, including the difficulty of watching his dad try to support the family financially. Rick says watching his family struggle with money is what encouraged him to make a living playing basketball.
He also faced challenges when he divorced actress Vanessa Williams after their 2004 separation. Today, Rick says the pair remain good friends. "We cherish the moments we have raising our daughter together." He also accepts his faults and says he has grown in the process. "I definitely don't deny my inability to make great choices over time," he says. "I learned a lot."
