Are you in an abusive relationship? If you think you may be but aren't completely sure, Dr. Robin says chances are, you are probably being abused. "I'm not interested in whether he is a good guy underneath," she says. "If someone is calling you 'stupid' or 'lazy,' it simply is unacceptable."
If you are being abused in any way, Dr. Robin says you need to make a plan. The first step is to admit to yourself that there is a problem to begin with. Secondly, Dr. Robin says you need to find someone to tell. "Tell someone who will walk the walk with you," Dr. Robin says. Then, she suggests seeking professional help to learn what you can do to get out, what your options are in terms of protecting yourself and where you can go once you leave. "You deserve to be safe and protected, loved and respected," Dr. Robin says.
