You've heard the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words," but have you ever really taken the time to understand the importance of the message? Dr. Robin recently found an old picture of herself, and began reminiscing about what she was doing at that point in her life. When she compared the picture with a more recent one of herself, she realized how much the pictures told her about herself and how they were a window into her life's journey.
The first picture showed a young Dr. Robin who was struggling with grief from her father's death. The second picture showed her about 15 years later—a successful and thriving woman. In looking back at her life, Dr. Robin ponders how she got to where she is now. "I got here because I stumbled and I stood back up and I fell back down and I got back up and I made really fabulous decisions and then I made some really poor ones," Dr. Robin says. "But the pictures that I'm looking at today show that a journey of growth is possible, if you'll be awake to who you are, awake to what you feel, awake to the ways in which you've fallen short, awake to your success."
Dr. Robin urges us to pull out our old photo albums and go back in time. "A picture is worth a thousand words," Dr. Robin says. "Start painting the picture so you really understand where you started, where you went and where you are today."
