When I'm blocked, I keep going and slog my way through it. And I come up with maybe one second of something interesting after working for hours.

I don't give up. There's a thing that I was trying to do in the slow movement of my newest work, where dancers are walking in irregular rhythms so it looks hesitant and jerky. And it didn't work. Then I changed the axis of it, so instead of being upright they're horizontal. I had them do it on hands and feet, not on their knees but on their feet. It looks completely different and odd. It's like water spiders or something. Skimmers. And that solved it. It became fabulous and beautiful.

More creative insights.
