Built in 1889, Churchill Manor was the first residence in Napa to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and all the original woodwork, including redwood mantels and pocket doors, has been left virtually untouched. For a unique view of Napa's vineyards, ask one of the nearby hot-air balloon companies to pick you up at the inn for a sunrise experience, suggests innkeeper Joanna Guidotti. (Balloons have to land before winds pick up at 9 a.m., so this activity is best for early birds.)
