Video Upload FAQ
What can I use to make my video? You can use a camcorder, digital camera or cell phone to shoot your video. What formats are acceptable for my video? We can accept MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI , 3GP and H.264 formats. How do I know which format my video file is in? In most cases you can tell by the file extension: .mpg: MPEG-2, MPEG-4 .mp4: MPEG-4, H.264 .3gp: 3GP .avi: AVI If you can’t tell the file type from the file extension, please consult your product manual. Should I edit my file? Please do not edit your file. In many cases, editing a file may change the file format. How large a file can I upload? Please make sure your file is no more than 100 MB. To determine if your file is 100 MB or less, right click on your file, select "Properties," and check the number of "bytes"—100 MB is 100 million (100,000,000) bytes. What if my file is too large? You may be able to reduce the file size by encoding it in the MPEG file format. Many video-editing programs allow you to export your file in the MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 formats. The file format that creates the smallest file size is a type of MPEG-4 called H.264. To create an H.264 file from your existing video file, we recommend using the E-Zsoft iPod Video Converter and then following these steps: 1. Download and install the iPod Video Converter 2. Start iPod Video Converter 3. Select "Video Converter" 4. Click the "Add Files" button and browse for the file you want to convert; select the file 5. On the right side of screen under "Profile," select the option for "IPOD (320x240)H.264 Excellent" 6. On the bottom of the screen, enter the output location where you wish your converted file to be saved 7. Select "Convert now" 8. Once the file conversion is done, you can upload the converted file What if I still have trouble uploading my file? If your file meets the file type and size requirements and yet your file upload repeatedly fails, you may not have a sufficiently fast or stable connection for Internet uploads. Problems with our video upload system should be reported using our Technical Help Support Form. While we cannot guarantee a response to each individual problem, we monitor all submissions and make an attempt to resolve issues that are common to many Oprah.com users. |
