What Makes a Good Video
Keep these 10 tips in mind when shooting your video:
  1. Please do not send videos containing actors, models and/or others who, because of prior professional commitments or union/guild obligations, should not participate in an amateur, unaffiliated production. If your video contains any third parties, please obtain all necessary permissions and/or releases (including any minors).
  2. Frame yourself in a "medium shot," meaning, make sure we can see you from your waist or chest up. You can either stand up or sit down—whichever makes you feel more comfortable.
  3. Avoid wearing patterns or light-colored clothing and showing any logos or trademarks (including on apparel). Bold, bright, solid colors work best, like black, red, blue, green, purple, etc.
  4. Keep miscellaneous background sounds (e.g. music, radio, TV, traffic, children, etc.) off or as low as possible and do NOT use any music on your video.
  5. Turn off the time/date feature.
  6. Do not use the zoom lens.
  7. Avoid shaking.
  8. We need to be able to see your face! Make sure the area you're in is well-lit, but stay away from windows and do not shoot directly into the light. If there is a lot of light in the background, you will be washed out.
  9. Look directly at the camera when speaking.
  10. Be energetic, animated and have fun! If you get nervous, you can always rewind and start again.
After you shoot your video, upload the file onto your computer. Make sure your video file has a maximum size of 100 MB. If your file is larger, you can use the E-Zsoft iPod Converter Suite to compress it to the correct size. Once your video is ready, click on the correct chapter and send it to Eckhart and Oprah!

It is advised that you retain a copy of your video(s) before submitting it/them to Harpo because your video(s) will not be returned to you.
