Shoe boxes covered in classic Chinese motifs.

Chippendale-filled dining rooms aren't the only place for classic Chinese motifs. Updated color schemes and shifts in scale bring fresh life to old-school looks.

Shoe boxes covered in a half-dozen fanciful wallpapers—from the geometric Chinese Chequers by Alexander Beauchamp for Fonthill Ltd. (top box and center lid) to Schumacher's shiny Meiling Floral (top lid) and Cowtan & Tout's La Pagode Chine (bottom box)—are perfect for Matthew Sporzynski's artfully crafted opentoed d'Orsay "pump" made of Chinese Toile paper from Colefax and Fowler. The real shoes are by Manolo Blahnik, top ($735), and Christian Louboutin, center ($820). The background is Shibui from Scalamandré, the "floor" is Nassau Weave from Schumacher.
