What to do about a lying boss
Jancee Dunn Polls the Experts

Q: Your boss said she'd love to give you a salary increase but didn't have the authority to approve raises; you've since found out she lied. Do you confront her, stew silently, or look for another job?

A: "Confront the boss…not angrily, but in a straightforward, professional fashion. Let her know that you believe any relationship, including those in the workplace, must be built on mutual trust. Give her an opportunity to apologize. But don't be fooled twice: Look for another job. The odds are that she revealed her true nature."
