For guidance on life coaching
I’m thoroughly biased. Having been personally trained by the estimable, inimitable Martha Beck and having edited several of her books, I wholeheartedly recommend Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live, Steering by Starlight: The Science and Magic of Finding Your Destiny, and Finding Your Way in a Wild New World: Reclaim Your True Nature to Create the Life You Want. For guidance on challenging your thoughts Byron Katie’s "The Work," is a simple, elegant formula for challenging the painful beliefs that can hold us back. I recommend Katie’s brilliant book, Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life, as well as her website, www.thework.com, which offers free worksheets, videos, and support for putting The Work to work in your own life. I also love Brooke Castillo’s transformative guide, Self-Coaching 101, which helps readers draw the crucial connection between circumstances and feelings—and how unearthing the often-unconscious thoughts that lead from what’s happening and how we feel about it is the key to liberating ourselves from painful beliefs. For guidance on meditation The Chopra Center offers a variety of meditation programs to help you access inner stillness. You can also sign up for free 21-day guided meditations that arrive in your email in-box every morning. Go to www.chopra.com/meditation For guidance about pursuing goals Debra Condren's Ambition is Not a Dirty Word: A Woman’s Guide to Earning Her Worth and Achieving Her Dreams is an excellent guide on how to achieve personal and career goals with integrity.
