Tips to Tackle Your Problem Area-
Need a creative window treatment to odd shaped windows? Treat two large windows as a single window! Hang a rod across the top with thick drapes to keep out unwanted light. Bring the space down to scale by anchoring the look with a large chest or desk and lamps.

Turn wasted space into a reason to smile. Nate took an empty landing into a beautiful space with a table for storage, a new lamp, fresh flowers and a framed photo.

Don't know how to paint your "great" room—a combined family room, kitchen and dining room? Nate says paint all of the rooms the same color. Since the space is so large, he also recommends choosing paint color darker than "neutral." Try Benjamin Moore Berkshire Beige, Springfield Tan or New Chestnut.

Beware of crown molding! Since oak crown molding at the ceiling line will make a room seem smaller, Nate recommends painting it. All the millwork in your room should match; trim around the windows, along the floor and at the ceiling should be the same.

When it comes to decorating a room to match a bold paint job like blue stripes, try a solid navy bedding with white trim and add some natural elements to the window treatment like bamboo blinds.
