The Cheerification of Gilda's Club

You enter through a red door. You are here because you, your spouse, your child, or a friend has cancer. You've heard that Gilda's Club New York City—the first of a network of support centers begun in 1995 by actor Gene Wilder in memory of his wife, Saturday Night Live's Gilda Radner, and by Joanna Bull, Radner's cancer psychotherapist—can help you feel less isolated and afraid.

Gilda Radner was too much fun to have a cancer center named for her look drab. We asked decorator Elaine Griffin to make it as warm and charming as the comedian herself. Take a look at the metamorphosis!
