Measurements Are In
Emily and I took my measurements again today. The first round we took on April 27 so it's been 8 weeks of eating well and working out since, and -- drum roll please -- I've lost a total of 12 1/2 inches! I lost 1 1/4 from my arm, 2 1/2 from my waist, 3 from my hips, 3 from my thigh and 2 3/4 from my chest. Yay!! That combined with the 25.2 pound I've lost and I think I'm doing pretty darn good. To prove the point, on Monday Emily had me do squats holding a 25 pound weight. Holding the amount I've lost definitely helped me process the progress. Okay, back to today...
Once the measurements were in and the celebratory high five was complete we hit the cardio floor. As we headed towards the treadmill I noticed her pace starting to slow, and then, suddenly, she stopped€¦right in front of my archnemesis -- the stairmaster! Arg!!! I believe my exact words were something like, "Is this your way of saying I have to get on that thing again?" Her response: "Oh, yeah." So, with a touch of reluctance and a healthy dose of fear I climbed aboard.
Now, I can't claim any sort of stair climbing victory, but I will say that my experience today was much better than last time. I couldn't really breathe, or talk, or keep my eyes open, but I survived. (Though, when finished we checked my heart rate and all I got was three blinking lights with no number €“ which means it's possible I died a little bit).
After that we focused on some upper body work. We increased some of the weight and I can for sure feel it €“ and it feels good! I never thought I'd see the day that I'd find joy in the exhaustion from a workout, but I'm definitely there. Having said that, a nap would be great about now.
