Some of Janene's biggest issues are control and personal space. "It seems silly, but it's a big thing for me. I can't let go of that control," she says. "It has consumed me. ... It affects my kids because I don't let them play with the neighbor's kids. We don't know our neighbors. I'm afraid to let them drive with [me] or do anything or not be with me. I don't want to shelter them or hold them too tight, and I don't want them to have OCD." Dr. Grayson comes up with a simple but powerful challenge. "What can we screw up that you like perfect?" he asks. Janene says she doesn't like other people touching her things...so Dr. Grayson asks people from the group to rummage through her bags. |
