Hot Chocolate

Servings: Makes 4 servings
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate , chopped
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • Unsweetened whipped cream , for topping
  • Directions
    In a medium saucepan, heat cream over medium heat until hot. Add chocolate and remove pan from heat; let stand 1 minute. Whisk until chocolate melts. Pour into 4 large mugs.

    In the same saucepan, over medium heat, heat milk until hot. Then pour into the mugs, stir, and serve immediately with generous dollops of whipped cream.

    * Variations: Grind fresh nutmeg or sprinkle cinnamon over whipped cream. Or, add 2 teaspoons créme de menthe or Kahlúa to each mug.
