Oil, salt and a few spoonfuls of sugar will have you making this carnival favorite in the comfort of your own home.

Serves 4, (makes about 10 cups)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unpopped popcorn kernels
  • 2 Tbsp. canola, vegetable, or coconut oil
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

Total time: 10 minutes

Begin to make stovetop popcorn as directed (see "Popcorn Basics"). When popping has almost subsided, remove pot from heat. Add sugar and salt, then return to low heat 20 seconds, shaking 3 or 4 times. The sugar should be just starting to melt and caramelize. Transfer popcorn to a large bowl and serve.
