I'm a big snacker—I mean huge. I'm always on the run, grabbing little bites along the way. (In fact, I consider snacking so essential that I devoted a chapter to it in my latest cookbook, Good Food, Good Life.) It's actually the way most chefs spend their days, tasting here and there as they create new recipes. I've found that snacking throughout the day is a great way to keep my energy up—as long as those bites aren't too indulgent. To make it easier to choose healthy options, I'll whip up fruit- and veggie-centric components and keep them on hand. If I mix together a bright and spicy tomatillo salsa, I can grab it from the fridge when hunger strikes and spoon it over half a ripe avocado (nature's own bowl).
