Almond Butter and Bacon Sandwich
Recipe created by Frances Boswell
So you lingered at last night's party long after your better judgment packed up and left? No worries. Try a carb-based breakfast, like this sandwich made with whole grain bread, almond butter (high in magnesium, which your body will crave), bacon, and apple slices.

This recipe is one of O's delicious start-your-day-right breakfasts.
Servings: Serves 1
Ingredients
  • 3 pieces thinly sliced whole grain bread
  • 2 Tbsp. natural almond butter
  • 1 tart apple , cut into thin strips
  • 4 slices bacon , cooked until crisp
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • Pinch of coarse sea salt
Directions
Total time: 10 minutes

Note: You can also serve this as a regular sandwich with just two pieces of bread. Try replacing the apple with banana if you're feeling queasy; bananas have a natural antacid effect.

Toast bread; spread 1 tablespoon almond butter on each of 2 slices. Lay apple over almond butter. Top each piece with 2 slices crisp bacon. Drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt if desired.

Assemble sandwich by stacking toast, with a plain slice in the middle, to form a classic double-layer club.
