Here I Am...
with LL Cool J at the Grammys (he hosted), where he laughed as he told me that there's an entire group of fans that know him only as Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles. They're in for a fantastic surprise when they hear his new hip-hop album, Authentic, in stores now.

It's No Secret; I Break for Cake
When I took my favorite daughter, Kirby, shopping at Tysons Galleria in Washington, D.C., last winter, I was looking for something to put on my body, not in it. But I defy anyone with a sweet tooth to see the window of Danielle's Desserts and not rush in. One bite of the caramel cake, and I was a goner. The buttercream frosting was heaven, and the cake itself was light and moist and luscious and rich all at once

The Late, Great Sue Mengers...
as Hollywood's first female "superagent." She was also gutsy, funny, and completely self-invented—an American original. So who better than Bette Midler to play her when I'll Eat You Last opens April 24 on Broadway?

The Office Finale...
airs this month on NBC. Who'd have dreamed that a shabby Scranton, Pennsylvania, workplace full of dysfunctional employees could be such an awesome spot to hang out every Thursday night? I'll miss you, Dunder Mifflin!

What is it about little girls...
and their daddies? Dana Brewington, my assistant at CBS, snapped this picture one Saturday on East Third Street in NYC, and I get a lump in my throat every time I see it. The three of them look so connected, so happy. What's their story? Where are they going? If you recognize this family, kindly tweet me. I'm dying to know who they are!

What's Going on Out There?
Snarkiness has seeped into sports, politics, even kindergarten. That's why I have the nicest words to say about The Book of Nice, a smart look at all things, well, nice. Which reminds me, I'd like to thank the guy who found my iPhone in the street the other day and was nice enough to return it.

Here's What Bruce Springsteen Had to Say...
...in February when MusiCares named him Person of the Year: "You can't triumph without music, because music is life."

He's an artist, he's a philanthropist, and he's right—there's always a song that carries us through.
