(played by Jane Lynch) If you think Darth Vader, Cruella de Vil and Jaws are ruthless, wait until you meet Sue Sylvester, head cheerleading coach at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. She's been named cheerleading coach of the decade by Splits magazine, has her own spot on the local news (which she uses to promote a pro-littering and caning stance), and she'll stop at nothing to destroy Spanish teacher Will Schuester and his glee club. Her scathing one-liners would reduce most people to a weeping puddle of shame, but so far, the glee club has managed to survive her spies and attempts at sabotage. Sue wields her power like a great dictator, but every so often, we see that beneath the polyester track suit, this self-proclaimed former Special Forces operative does have a heart. In one episode, we get a glimpse of Sue caring for her developmentally disabled sister, a two-tissue moment. |
