SR: You have been very open about discussing your impairment. SM: I think it would be a horrible waste if I didn't let people in and didn't offer what I have to offer. ... People ask me all the time what I would say to people who are struggling or giving up, and it doesn't matter if you have a visual impairment or you've gone through kidney failure or it's a totally nonphysical challenge whatsoever, because there are all types of challenges that take many shapes and forms in life. And I just think, from the stories I've heard, I'm so glad I've been able to share what I have and hopefully uplift people and just be an inspiration to them.
