New Kids on the Block

New Kids on the Block

Established: New Edition producer Maurice Starr discovered the boys during a 1985 talent search in Boston and formed the group.

Members: Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight and Jonathan Knight.

Biggest hits: "Hangin' Tough," "I'll Be Loving You Forever," "Step by Step," "Cover Girl," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)."

Awards: The group took home Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the 1990 American Music Awards.

Memorable Moment: Fans in their 30s and 40s screamed like teenagers when New Kids on the Block reunited and performed live on The Today Show in 2008.

Trademark style: Overalls, patterned sweaters.

Best lyric: "Listen up, everybody / If you wanna take a chance / Just get on the floor / And do the New Kids' dance" — "Hangin' Tough"

Where they are today: The New Kids went their separate ways in 1994. Jordan found solo success, and Danny started a record label. Donnie made his mark in movies like The Sixth Sense, while Joey became a regular on Fox's Boston Public and competed in Dancing with the Stars. Jonathan started a real estate career. In 2008, the band reunited and released a new album, The Block. They will tour with the Backstreet Boys in spring 2011.
