At age 75, Charlotte Stewart (
Little House on the Prairie,
Twin Peaks) has that newlywed glow. Charlotte and Michael Santos were married in August 2015, a story that she tells
Oprah: Where Are They Now? was decades in the making.
Charlotte met Michael more than 30 years ago, when his sister married her brother. "And then we went our separate ways," Charlotte says. "I was in Los Angeles, he was up in northern California—married, raising kids. And then, as life goes on, my husband passed away and his wife passed away."
About a year after her husband's passing, Charlotte and Michael reconnected on Christmas Eve. "It was like, I opened the door at my brother's house and Michael was standing there, and my brain went, 'Yahoo!'" Charlotte laughs. "And I think his did the same thing, but we were very, you know, calm. And we've literally been together ever since."
Now, the happy couple has some celebratory travel plans lined up. "We're coming up on our first anniversary and we're going to spend it in France with a
Little House on the Prairie reunion," she reveals.
Clearly, age is nothing but a number when it comes to love. "I've been through a lot in my life," Charlotte says. "I had cancer. I had a real down period in my life. I have many, many up periods.
I have fallen into circumstances that were unbelievable, and some of them good, some of them 'oh my gosh.'"
"But you know, I'm 75 years old today, I'm a newlywed—I have no doubt that the universe has plans for me," she says.
