Elizabeth Berkley
Actress and philanthropist
Recognized by the London Times as a "fearless and committed actress," Elizabeth Berkley has demonstrated the versatility of her talent from comedy to drama in a host of successful film, television and stage performances.
She is also the founder of Ask-Elizabeth, created as a safe forum for adolescent girls (ages 11 to 18) to ask the questions they've been keeping to themselves and to empower them with answers. When Berkley works with the girls, she creates a big sister relationship in a safe setting that allows them to open up and start talking and sharing. In these two-hour, interactive workshops, she discusses themes like body image, fitness, beauty, family, goal-setting, friendship and dating—all important aspects in the emotional life of a teenage girl. She's touched the lives of more than 30,000 teenage girls so far through her nonprofit organization. The Ask-Elizabeth book will be published in spring 2011 by Penguin. The book is an intimate experience for every teen girl to have as her handbook to guide her through this time in her life. It explores the most-asked questions from workshops and includes wisdom, advice and personal stories from Elizabeth, teen girls across the country and experts as needed. Ask-Elizabeth will be that one book that captures both the eyes and hearts of teen girls today. It offers an innovative, teen-engaging presentation that will draw them in at first glance and a unique marriage of advice and personal stories that will keep them coming back, time and again. It will be a book that serves as friend, big sister, personal diary and guiding hand all in one. In addition to Ask-Elizabeth, Berkley is active in numerous outreach programs, including Women's Cancer Research Fund, Revlon's Run/Walk events, Horizons for Youth and Step Up Women's Network. She serves on the Artistic Board of Working Playground, a nonprofit cultural organization that supports underserved New York City public schools, and is a Benefit Committee Member of the NY Academy of Art. Berkley is married to artist Greg Lauren. They divide their time between New York City and Los Angeles. For more information, visit Ask-Elizabeth.com. Advertisement
