Barbara Walters' New Revelations

This is not the Barbara Walters you think you know. Family secrets, what really happened on The View and the affair. It's a side of her we've never seen before!

I havent seen the show yet but I saw on the View Barbaras shameless plug about her book..Why is it ok that she had an affair? Thats what makes me mad about her..They spend all the time on the View dishing men that are unfaithful but she is above them? What a hypocrite.

I agree with you and want Babara and Oprah to check their dictionaries. Barbara said she was "not a mistress", so Oprah said in that case, she wasn't either. According to the dictionaries I checked, Barbara was very definitely A MISTRESS!!! He had a wife at the time, so she had no business naming her lover in her book. I don't care how long ago it was.

What a wonderful show! I left work a little early so I could get home in time to see two titans of television on stage together. You had terrific rapport, and it was a pleasure watching and learning from both of you. You are both heroes of mine, and I wish each of you the best. And, I'm asking for Barbara's book for Christmas! Nice job.

I am reading her book right now..and I love it. It is a very interesting read.

I like her... I don't care that she had an affair...everybody does things that not everyone alse will agree with. It is in the past and if you watch the show she says she told the man that he would be mentioned.

I've always been indifferent towards Barbara Walters....Neither liked nor disliked her.....In watching the show, I found that I really admire her...She is a wonderful speaker, funny, truthful & very interesting..... In spite of mentioning negative things/people in her life, she was never mean or vindictive...A proper lady...(Forget the affair, many in the limelight have done so & it was a very long time ago). Bravo Barbara, you've gained an admirer...Wonderful show.

I was really disappointed and disturbed that both Oprah and Barbara talked about having affairs like it was no big deal. Try being on the other side and see if they feel the same way! When a woman just moves in on your husband, there is no mystery and/or allure about it. Walters talked about the secrecy still with a gleam in her eyes. There is nothing exciting about it when you aren't the "new woman". Women like this are predators and it is certainly nothing to be proud of. They destroy people and families. I don't care if you weren't a kept woman, you should be ashamed to be a part of breaking up marriages and families. This whole thing brings up intense feelings from my husband's affair from over ten years ago. Even though we made it through this, the trust has been broken and you can never regain it. Shame on both of them to talk about this so nonchalantly!

She is a complete hypocrite!

Not a mistress, it is exactly what she was.

She is snobby and rude in person towards those who admire her, I don't admire her but was with a group of people and one person yelled out that they like her, not only did she wave the person off she said " how tacky can you be". She is nothing but a snob who thinks she is better than others. As far as her on the view, she sucks and when she is on I mute her out, that is when I can because she interrupts the other co- host all the time, but if anyone else dare to speak when she is speaking she raises her hand and says "excuse me". I don't care for her at all and think it is time she retire, unless the view demographics have become 80 year old women who have old outdated views. She is the main reason I have taken The View off my Tivo. I found her to be very fake during the oprah interview, only trying to make herself look good and justify why she treats others so poorly, and enough already with her stupid book, it seems there is not a day that goes by that she is on The View that she doesn't plug that stupid piece of trash.

I totally agree, I find nothing special or even likeable about BW, actually quite the opposite. I find her to be very annoying and she is making the View unbearable to watch anymore when she is on, I took the View off my Tivo and on days I see her walk out I turn the TV off. This women needs to retire!

I thought Barbara was horribly ingeniune. I wouldn't spend one penny on her book. The entire interview left me with further proof that journalism is based off of lies and that the people who are suppose to be reporting to us unbiasedly are falling short. What I took from the interview was that her entire career has been about public image on both Barbara's and the networks part. I know she is calling her book Audtions b/c hmm maybe she learned something, I disagree and think that her closing remarks when Oprah asked her what she knows forsure about life sounded so cheap and rehearsed. I can't say I don't care about an affair but setting that aside I just thought it was a horrible interveiw and I will forever look at her differently.

I vaguely remember a show about the "other woman" and Oprah seemed as though she was looking down her nose at those women, Now we learn she had an affair with a married man, Barbara Walters too. I am disappointed, I have always respected these two women but no more.

I saw this show the first time it aired. I loved it, but the second time I saw it, I saw a different side of the story. You had on your stage the two most important women in history since Gloria from the 70's! Barbara would only do such an interview with Oprah and Oprah you could see was fascinated by Barbara. I think that Barbara was once an admired idol of Oprah's, then Barbara was a fan of Oprah's! What a full circle that was! But on the same stage you saw that both have given this world leaders it has needed, both for women and black americans! I had tears in my eyes as I watched the second time around realizing what they have given to us as women. Thank you for airing this again. Good for you Oprah and good for you Barbara. Much love and proudness that is coming from me right now.

With respect,

Doris Faust

Just because she is reporting the news to you does not mean she has to disclose her personal life to you or anyone else! How closed mind you are. You have never made mistakes in your life???? Yes I think you have. If you were to sit down in a meeting with your parents, husband or children, wouldn't you sound a little ing¿nue? So maybe you held her up to a higher standard and it is reflecting yourself and you just don't like it. Maybe just maybe??

I am glad they gave Rosie the Boot. I had not seen the fight until I watched it on the internet. Our troops terrorist? How dare she say that.

Our men and woman have fought to keep this country free. And in any war there are people who die that have nothing to do with it. And that is terrible. Barbara I know runs the view. And she decides who stays and who goes.

But I do not blame them at all for getting rid of Rosie. She has some very serious issue's that she needs to deal with. And refuses too.

Yesterday, 12/01/08, I wrote a reply regarding the show with Barbara Walters, yet, I do not see my reply listed. Why?

I was frankly shocked at Barbara's flippant attitude about ALL the men in her life and about having an affair with a married man. Both Barbara & Oprah may congratulate themselves on not being considered "mistresses" in having an affair with a married man in the past but they were "adultresses". They can sugar coat it all they want ...but it was adultery! Barbara said this married man never went home (only on holidays) so that meant he wasn't happy with his wife. Give me a break. He never went home because he was probably too busy fooling around with other women & having affairs (and I bet he had others before Barbara and even maybe while being with Barbara). Often these men aren't happy at home because they don't make any effort to make their home a happy place. She said he was a wonderful and good man. How wonderful & good was he when it was time to stay faithful & committed to his wife and family? Of course, having an adulterous affair is exciting, mysterious, etc. etc. and each feels they're deeply in love. But what happened to Barbara's personal moral integrity for herself and for this man's wife and family? Because let me tell you, ... I was a married woman whose husband cheated on me after 25 years of marriage and had an affair and it hurts...it really hurts. I'm sure, if it happened to either Oprah or Barbara to be cheated on by their men, they would see that it hurts to the core of one's being. It's nothing to smile or wink your eye at. It's devastating. At least I believe Oprah has said about her affair with a married man that it was her greatest regret. Bravo Oprah! I respect you for this. But Barbara never really said she regretted her bad choice about committing adultery. She regretted the consequence it may have had on "his" career but otherwise...no regrets. It just goes to show...even a "hot shot" celebrity and respected journalist like Barbara can make bad personal choices in their private lives that can have profond consequences on other's lives. Barbara may command respect in her career field but she has lost a good part of my respect regarding her personal moral integrity in this matter. I'm sorry...in my opinion and even in today's society's opinion....adultery is still wrong (ask the wives who have been cheated on). So what Barbara did was wrong and she should admit it.
