How lucky can this person be? Luck like a dream come true doesn't come easy for me. I have to work at it! What do I get in return. Nothing!!! I felt being at the right place at the right time one time in my life and now I have nothing of significance. Reality hasn't been very nice to me. The way things in my life now just don't add up to the value I need. Money is very important in this world today. I wish I could balance out both in my life. God only knows how I'll end up doing it if I ever do?:|

I think this song should be the opening theme song on the show.

I usually find most of your shows to be very heartwarming and the people are usually quite genuine. I attribute this to your very experienced staff who do their homework on these people beforehand. The girl who was discovered in the subway and talked about her supposed former life of "servitude" with her cult worshipping family seems very fake. She talked about how she had to do everything she was told and wasn't aloud to read regular books other than the bible, etc. First off, she was a child/teenager...what teenager doesn't complain about having to do what her parents are told??? Also, with a little Google search I found that she has traveled the world with her cult worshipping family. She was not sheltered, but rather she was able to experience things most teenagers only dream of doing. She sounds more like a spoiled brat and because her parents didn't support her dream of becoming a star (what young girl doesn't dream of being a superstar singer???) she ran away. I thought it was funny when Oprah commented about the fact that although she was "sheltered" she must have watched tv! LOL! I'm disappointed in the Oprah show for allowing this girl to have the opportunity to be so disrespectful to the family who raised her and gave her quite a bit as far as I can see. This is very indicative of the attitudes of alot of teenagers today. If I were Oprah I'd have been very offended by this brat saying she knew what it felt like to be a slave...are you kidding me??? Seriously! I guess I just feel like she isn't deserving of the limelight on this one and I don't feel sorry for her one bit.

jewlzfire, I never dreamt of being a superstar singer because the family I came from frowned upon such ideas. You had to be a doctor, lawyer, and find a very educated rich husband that you bowed down to. It is now that I am old that I think about being a superstar singer or regretting not taking a gig as a talk show host when it was offered to me in a golden platter. I just thought that it was not a good thing to do because of my upbringing. Now I know better.

You do not have to have chains around your neck, sold at auctions, worked to death, whipped to there was no longer flesh separating you from you bones, separated from ancestors, family, children, relatives, stripped of your identity, etc. to understand what it is like to be a slave. There are actually families where children are plotting daily how to run away from home because the home situation is unbearable. I have been on my own since I was sixteen and I never looked back. I managed to put myself through school, etc.

Forgive that young child, there must have been a reason.

remain blessed.
Happy New Year.

I was in the cult that Susan Cagle was in and I left after many years. She may have traveled the world with her parents but I know firsthand the control this cult had over it's young people often sending them thousands of miles away from their parents and in the care of people who could care less about them. Often these young people were sexually molested, beaten and at the very "least" psychologically tortured. I left, thank God, before these things happened (1978) but they were beginning to happen and we left taking our children to safety with us. Since then we have helped MANY of the people leaving and have heard the heartbreaking stories of these young people born into this cult. One of my dear young friends who came to us and we helped her leave actually lived in the leader, Moses David's (David berg's) house and at 11 years old was repeated sexually molested by adult men passing thru and by Moses David himself. We are also very close to Merry Berg, the granddaughter of Moses David whom he tortured and beat and sexually molested. Merry has unfortunately been scarred for life. Merry lived in exotic locations and traveled the world as did my friend who was molested repeated from 11 years old by any adult that wanted to have at her. On the surface it looked idyllic except for the fact that Merry was chained to a bed at night in Moses David's home and then in Macau she was kept locked up until she officially went insane and was sent to live with her grandmother and then her aunt. The 11 year old, now fast forward, came to our home with her children when she escaped in her thirties. A huge influence on her was when I introduced her to the Oprah show. She lost 30 lbs afteer watching Make the Connection and then after watching even more shows had the courage to finally leave the cult for good. She credits Oprah with giving her that courage. Rick Rodriguez, the son of Moses David's concubine fled the group and was also a close personal friend after he left. He lived what looked like the life of royalty but he said he was tortured as he would hear Merry's screams for help and as a child was unable to come to her rescue. He spoke of the constant sexual abuse and he said it was done to him so publicly and he felt such shame. He said he could never quit thinking how he wanted "that woman" (he wouldn't call her his mother) brought to justice. Sadly we know this ended with the murder of a nanny that years before sexually abused him and then the suicide that followed hours later. I was at the memorial service and was amazed to see so many young people from all over the world who had lived globally their entire lives and spoke many different languages. On the surface their lives looked charmed but what they all had in common was they were all abused in some way physically, sexually or mentally. Watchman (Rick Dupuy) who was also a personal friend and who later commited suicide because of the horrors he went thru in the cult and he could never get over, managed to get his young son out at 14 years old. His son stayed quite a while with us and told us how once he dropped a glass and broke it. As punishment the "uncle" (not an uncle but what any man except your father was called if he had anything to do with you) took a brick and smashed his hand. He said this so nonchalantly as though it were no big deal and he was used to this. I lived all over the world as well. Once when I questioned out loud whether I wanted to stay in the group I was taken in a room and slapped by a man hard across the face and had my face forced to the ground and was told to stay there until God showed me the error of my ways. I had a 3 week old baby and had a man banging on my door saying I should have sex with him because enough time had passed. I was forced in a room with another man and told to have sex with him for the good of unity of the group. The person who wrote Susan Cagle was not authentic or deserving has to be a current member. My stories are very tame compared to what these young people born into the group suffered. I hated going out on the streets begging for money and lying to people. We had ONE orphan from Haiti in our home and we made up a story with his picture how we were rescuing orphans and starting a school for these poor things. If you didn't make enough money you were turned away from returning to the home you were staying in. Another friend with 8 children was in South Africa. She had given $120,000 to the COG. When they were starving down there and asked for a loan for food she was told she had a lack of faith. This family ended up coming to our home for a year while they got on their feet. They said living with us was the first kindness they had felt in 20 years of giving everything to this cult. Good for Susan Cagle. I hope she makes millions and thank God she is free.

I agree, this would be a very good opening song. Myself and my daughter watch Oprah everyday ,and its funny how certain thing can make you think about your life. When we were sitting there listening to Susan sing her song , i realized just how much the things we watched, heard , or seen on your show have helped us or we have used in some way. Thank You Oprah, and Thank You Susan.
