Sarah Palin: Oprah "balks" at having Palin on as a guest

Posted on Sep 5, 2008 8:17 AM

I just read that Oprah and some top staffers are against having Sarah Palin on the show, due to Oprah's support of Obama. I just want to know what happened to the Oprah who hosted both George Bush and Al Gore four years ago? Where is that level of bipartisanship? Sarah Palin is probably one of the most important women to hit the political stage in a long, long time. I am disgusted that the powers that be in Oprahland are so focused on an Obama victory that they cannot see how significant a woman this is. Sisterhood, Ha. -A former viewer

I too am a former viewer. I am just tired of celebrities trying to push their views down our throats. Why do they think their opinions matter to us? It will be interesting to see if Oprah does have Sarah Palin on her show but I am not holding my breath.

Please Oprah, interview Sarah Palin. Even though I vote for Obama, I want to know more about this historic woman and I think you could really get her to open up.

I think Oprah is fair minded and she will have the governor on. She was nominated just a week ago give Oprah a break. If she does not have her on for partisan reasons or treats her badly when she is on then I, and certainly many other Oprah fans will stop waching. Even if we are Obama supporters we must respect and admire the historical VP nominee.

But I am sure Oprah will be Oprah. VP Nominee will be on and Oprah will be gracious. That is why we love her.,

I am so happy that this leaked. Oprah's show is totally politically slanted and now we have undeniable proof. It really scares me that so many people get their news from shows like this and the view.

I think Oprah SHOULD NOT have Palin on her show. McCain has been spending his time belittling "celebrities" this entire campaign, now that he thinks he can change the subject away from himself and focus it on Palin, he thinks he can win the election. The reason Oprah stopped having politicians on her show because after her experience with George Bush and Algore in 2000, she decding not to have any candidates on her show during the middle of a campaign. She has not even invited Obama back during the campaign because she does not want her show to be used for partisan purposes.

I never really watched Oprah that much because I have a job. However, I don't care to watch it and do not watch it if I am home. Oprah is out for Oprah, although her viewership has decreased since she started her Obama "love fest". Between that and the Eckhart Tolle B.S. she was pushing down everyones throats, her opinion does not matter to me in the least. Personally I feel that Sarah Palin is too good and too intelligent to go on Oprah. Seriously, she doesn't need Oprah and her viewers! My advice to Sarah would be to avoid Oprah. Oprah is in the tank for Obama and will do whatever it takes for him to win, which means not being fair with Palin, if she were to come on the show. My advice to other women is to quit grasping onto the "crumbs" that Oprah throws your way! Be your own woman and make up your own minds, without Oprah leading you down a treacherous path!!!

Based on some of the responses on this message board, it proves my point that the Republicans are trying to change the subject away from John Mccain towards Sarah Palin. They are threatening Oprah in order to try to get her to invite Palin on her show. If people started threatening me to do something, my reaction would be to do the exact opposite and BAN that person from the show.

So, at this point (Sept 5, 2008, AM) Oprah is "adamantly" against having Sarah Palin,(this remarkable woman) on her show in spite of Oprah's past history of being fair minded, a tenet of the liberal stance? Is she becoming the celebrity political activist like many of the other celebrity elites? She is certainly entitled to her views and opinions. If Oprah is to remain relevant in the celebrity world she might want to rethink this position. In all fairness, celebrities need to understand how powerful their positions and statements are to the general public. This implies a certain level of responsibility. Or, on the other hand, does she have a "deal" with Obama? I know that many people give more credence to a celebrity position than they would to mine simply because of name recognition......this, in spite of the fact that being a celebrity cloaks no one with any special political sense. Why should the opinion of any celebrity, like George Clooney for instance, be more important than anyone else...but it is according to the "no longer impartial" press. Thanks for reading this far.

oh please, Mccain is not and has not belittled "celebrities". Grow up! Just because he doesn't run around kissing their butts to get their support doesn't mean he's belittling them. If he cracks a few jokes at the way they're propping up the hollow puppet that is Obama, it's well deserved!

I will be disappointed, but not surprised, if Oprah does not have Sarah Palin on her show. Oprah is only interested in getting Obama elected. She is not interested in fair. So even though Sarah Palin has a remarkable story, and is the sort of woman we should be seeing on Oprah, it probably won't happen. Oprah's true colors are showing on this one.

'She has not even invited Obama back during the campaign because she does not wanter her show to be used for partisan purposes.'

If that were true, she would not have had Obama on to begin with.

What happened to celebrating diversity, Oprah? Is Sarah Palin such a threat to you? To me, she looked like she could be one of your audience members. And yet, you don't want to hear her. How interesting.

Obama WAS NOT running for the presidency when he was on Oprah. He was their for an interview about his book. Sarah Palin belittled Obamas book in her speech this past week. Why would Oprah want to interview someone that has so little respect for books? Sarah PAlin at one point even tried to BAN books from her local library.

You've got to be kidding me. Are you a child writing this stuff? So little respect for books? I laughed, I really did. No intelligent adult could come up with that.

What are you so afraid of, vamo?? I tell you what, let Oprah EXPOSE her for the fraud that you clearly think she is. Won't that be great for you? Ya, Oprah can corner her with this book-banning, let's see how Sarah gets out of it. How could she, if it's true??? Let her on, pepper her with questions, let her have it. It'll be great for you. What fun. I know I'd enjoy it immensely. Hit her with every hard question you can come up with. The American people deserve to hear it.

She has respect for books... She has no respect for anyone who can author two auto-biographies, and not ONE bill (legal or otherwise)... not even in the state senate...

I believe Sarah Palin's kids have read more books that most Americans...

We want to see the Next Vice President on the show! With Family and all!
