I just learned from watching the show that you shouldn't color your hair and chemically straighten it - do you have any suggestions for someone who is 49-3/4, has grays coming in and has very frizzy, curly hair? I heard about a Chinese straightening system that is supposed to work wonders and I was planning on trying it but... now I don't know what to do. I'm tired of using the flat iron to straighten my hair - but if I have to choose one or the other - it would definately have to be the coloring - I'd look like a zebra if I didn't color out my grays. HELP!!

The rule of thumb is...always color a perm/relaxer...never perm/relax a color.

I'm always inspired by Oprah and I've admired her for her ability to motivate the everyday woman. I've really been touch by her desire to focus less on celebrity and more on how "ordinary" people can make their own lives extraordinary. She never forgets about "the little people" - in fact, she seems to believe that the "little people" are greater than the biggest stars out there.

Which is why I'm disappointed by today's show. She had Harry Josh on the show today, and on the last segment about haircuts and if I could ever point to someone who has forgotten all about the little people, it's Harry. I was really disgusted by Harry today when he sat next to Oprah and blabbered on about his celebrity clientele and basically lied to her face. He said: I've always wanted to make other people happy. Ummmm, Okay...well, if that's the case then why....(read on)?

I found out about HJ long ago and went to see him when he worked at a salon downtown. I introduced friends to him who also became his clients and were loyal to him...supporting him along his climb to this superstar status he has now (all because of his relationship with Gisele Bundchen). For a select few, he opened his home to offer haircuts.

Now, he's impossible. I have tried to go back and see him since he moved to be with "Serge Normant at John Frieda" in NYC so many times and I, along with many of his other clients, were treated very badly by "Crystal" - the woman who is apparently now managing his schedule. We were all told we could be put on a waitlist with 300+ people ahead of us by Crystal's assistant (Crystal wouldn't take or return our calls) but that Crystal would have to set that up for us. Needless to say, she never bothered, which translates immediately into "you don't matter".

Going on the Oprah show and helping the "everyday" woman is great, but it's absolutely awful that it takes that much to get Harry (and possibly the other stylists, though I can't say because I've never seen them) to work with non-celebrities. What about all of us who've supported him in the past? Don't we matter anymore? Is it just the assistant in between Harry and all of the old clients who is translating a message of: we don't care about you? or does this message really come from Harry? After all, if he has a scheduler who deals with people the way Crystal does, shouldn't he be aware of that and make changes?

It just shows me that he is a type of person who only cares about the celebrity and not about actually being true to people who've always been loyal to them. He cares about making CELEBRITIES happy and Oprah's celebrating him for his work. Whuuuut?!

Yes, I know he's a stylist and it sounds like I'm whining over just a haircut...but the point is that Oprah's bringing Harry on the show and celebrating him for "helping" these women, when he's completely turned his back on most of the regular people who "helped" him before his major fame. Celebrating someone like this just seems to contradict everything that Oprah's about and it makes me disappointed in her and her show. Sorry to say this, because I love O, but I am just really let down in this instance and wish Oprah would've paid some attention to this before making angels out of people who ignore all the "normal folks" who actually relied on these gals and guys to give us that extra boost and help we sometimes need in our non-celebrity lives, where everything isn't given to us for free.

The changes in the women and one man were astounding. Oprah was right when she said the change in hair (crowning glory) caused a palpable change in the person themselves. I may be wrong but, these women and one man are not nearly as homely as I. I do wonder what such a change would bring about in me. I will never know because I am on a low income and do not have access to quality hairdressers, let alone ones with the talent exhibited on the show. I was disappointed to hear one of the hairdressers, although she did it gently, distance herself from the women who wanted to continue the relationship. Back to the chicken farm for her! There is a much deeper meaning to things here I guess. People with talent are truly blessed and rule the world. I hate my chicken farm but I am trapped here. The chicken dung is toxic. There is something inside me that is deeply happy for the generosity of the guests and the good fortune for the audience. I experience gratitude yet always watching good fortune shine on others does not feed me such that I can continue on my journey. My soul is dying. Black hair colour is symbolic of the death of the person unto themselves. Change can be a good thing for those blessed.

I will be 74 on December 14. My hair turned white in my 50's. I looked good then and as I aged white made me look older and older. I now color my hair. How do I get a younger look at my age and not look so frumpy. Nobody seems address this. How you can look younger when you are in your 70's even your 80's. When I wear my hair shorter it makes me look manish. I would still like style at this age. I get myself very upset when I look in the mirror and it's not me. What changes can I make? I am 5' 5" and weigh 135 and have puppet lines around my mouth. My husband tell me to smile and I am smiling.
