Good Morning! I was so disappointed in today's show. Once again all the examples as well as models were size 2. I don't know what size Oprah wears, but she is curvy like me. It is said that TV adds pounds, but some day I would like to see a show where the sizes are called 16P, or size 10, or 18, etc. to give me a better perspective of what is actually around my size. I'll keep watching to see if this ever happens.
P.S I also can't afford to spend $1000 on 1 outfit.

I am so looking forward to this show and any tips.
I am a 57 year old visual artist & poet and not wanting to look like my 70+ sisters (although they look great at their ages). I am not 74.
Most of the clothes that I see are more suitable for my granddaughters but I want panache not matron in my clothes. To aggravate the problem I am a lagniappe woman (a little extra) plus size that is 5'11. Though things are improving it is still difficult to find affordable, appropriate energized clothing . I love colors, textures and shaping & not uncomfortable with my age and have no desire to look 20. It was wonderful then, but I am in a different space now. My work puts me in the public eye quite a bit, with exhibitions and lecturing (I am the director ofthe Changed Waters Katrina Project) but because of existing knee challenges I cannot manage stiletto shoes but want some kick.
My hardest challenge is finding pants since most plus size clothes are made for women 5'6 and under. When I discover a pair that looks great and have a inseam of 33-34 inches I try to buy them all up. So proportion is key.What are some of you all doing?
I have decided to have some of my clothing made in order to get them to fit well including my outer wear

I enjoyed watching todays show, but I am a size 18W-20W, 57 year old attractive (so my husband says) woman. I am in the public eye everyday as my career is flight attendant for major carrier. I live in jeans and big shirts or sweaters on layovers. Why not a real plus size show (not 14w).

This is great news for people that can afford it. Norstroms is just not in my budget. I have been shooping for my clothes in my favorite boutique "Good Will" for over 50 years.. There were times in my life that I could afford to shop in regular stores, however I just could not bring myself to spend more than $5.00 on a blouse and would always revert back to going to Good Will.
People think I spend a trememdous amount of money on my clothes. They would be amazed, if they only knew how little I do spend. For what you pay for one outfit, I can get a closet full of things. I may not be the most update person walking around, but I think I look pretty good.
The other thing is, where I live (summers Mendota, Illinois and winter in Brooksville, Florida), no one dresses anymore. I wore a dress to the post office one day and everyone wondered where I was going that I was so dressed up. I wish people would take more pride in how they dress. I miss the days when woman dressed for different occassions, but today they wear the same sweats to church, plays and the grocery store........I usually stand out because I do dress for things. Even if my clothes are from Good Will I look better than the average woman.

I won't see the show until later as it airs late afternoon here.If the average woman in America is a 14-16 why cannot there not be at least one size16 model?
Clothes look differently in proportion to a size 2 or a 18. Even the catalogs that cater to generously endowed women use size 2 model with padding. It looks silly to me. Or for that matter how about models that are age appropiate. I am not talking about this show as I have not seen it and it would looked silly to not have a 60 year old model. The pictures here on the website look at least in the decade they are representing.
However there is a new magazine out called Figure and not one model is a size 2. And it shows clothing and assesories based on realistic images for size 16 . Now I would say if we are going to go there why not at least a woman size 20?

I'm with you about dressing appropiatley for occasions. I mix & match where I shop and that includes Goodwill to Nordstrom. Yersterday I found a neautiful knitted tal scarf for a dollar that works beautifully with a bouse I have that I paid $100 for.
I believe paper behave differentlyand appropiately based on thier clothing. Wearing jeans and a t shirt to a wedding or to church show so little respect not only to the God you serve but people around you.
Ans there are modified versions of what you will see on this show in places like TJ Maxx or Marshalls or similar stores.

I did not have a chance to view the show, but looked at the web page. The clothes are wonderful but like many of the women who wrote in, I am a larger size, and tall, and ... use a cane for multiple sclerosis related problems. Here's a challenge for the group that dresses people - look into larger sizes, low heels, and dressing for special needs like canes, walkers and chairs. Things like wide leg pants, and wonderful open tops do not work well in some cases - surprise us with your inventiveness!

This show was just not real life. "Look great in your 30's 40's 50's"...Well, yeah, if you go from your old "real" clothes to spending a thousand dollars on ONE outfit, then, yeah, you're gonna look better. Not a surprise! Oh, yeah, and you'll also get a new hairstyle from a celebrity hairstylist. Who WOULDN'T look better? Come on. The majority of the people out there in their 30's and 40's are mothers with families and normal people just getting by who shop at normal places like a mall with Penney's, Old Navy, Target, Gap...whatever. There are FEW FEW FEW people out there who for one, have the money to drop a thousand dollars at Saks or Nordstroms on one outfit, and, for two, are so materialistic that they have the CONSCIOUS to do that. I am in my thirties, have NEVER been to Saks or Nordstroms, and have 3 small children at home. I feel like I'm speaking for the majority of people when I say that if I had a thousand dollars and NEEDED a nice outfit, I probably would spend about $100-$150, then I'd take the other $900 and do something better with it than buy a camel coat. Please. Maybe Oprah and those other stylists can afford that but 90% of America can't! REAL people are watching your show!! NOT people who are "going to the gym and then hurrying to get on an AIRPLANE!!" REAL people with NORMAL lives don't live like that! <!-- BEGIN attachments --><!-- END attachments -->

I have to agree, I am a 43 year old new Mom and I am not wearing the sizes these women wear. Not to mention the fact that the average American woman wears a size 14/16 and you can't tell me these women are 14's & 16's. As the viewership of Oprah is largely my age or older lets make it more realistic with size and affordability. I was disappointed in the show.

I too was dissapointed with today's show. Many of my friends and I agree that we just cannot find the proper looks for us (in our 50's). It is not about the look, per se, but about the fact that we are post menopausal, fleshy, and have lost our waists! Today's show was great for women in our age group who still have a fairly "recognizable" shape....what about the "fleshy mommas?!"
The comment was just made "if you pay attention to your waistline and keep the girls up you will always have a fantastic shape", but what about the rest of us who may have figured out how to "keep the girls up", but have bulges where a waist line is suppose to be?! NOW THAT WOULD BE A GREAT SHOW!
Anybody agree with me?

As I am watching this with my wife....my question is why don't you do this for men as well. I am a professional man in my 50's who whould like to see trendy, but stylish clothing for men.

Why is it that Oprah doesn't show how some of us GUYS can look up 2 date???. Nathan would agree I'm sure. I try to watch her everyday but today's episode was VERY disappointing for us GUYS...
