Larry Dossey and Oprah and introducing, Peter Dziuban!!!!

Posted on May 31, 2008 10:23 AM

I just listened, on XM radio, to the interview Oprah had with Larry Dossey M.D. re: the power of prayer and how this is being taught at 90 or so medical schools as having great validity...again an example of the blending of science and spirituality...bravo again to Oprah!...this brought to mind a book that Larry Dossey endorsed as giving an "inspiring picture of the non-local, infinite, eternal nature of Consciousness. This is affirmed not only by ancient wisdom, but is emerging as well in several areas of science." This book is by Peter Francis Dziuban, and is entitled, "Consciousness Is All (Now Life Is Completely Different)"...this is written entirely from the point of view of Consciousness itself...quite the book...also, I'm looking forward to a coming book by Dziuban called, "So Be It: How the Nature of Being Answers the Biggest Questions in Science Today"...looks like a good one...Dziuban will help clarify any outstanding issues you might have re: Consciousness...highly recommended reading!!! peace, habsonfire

Peter Dziuban wrote a book which he wrote as if it was Consciousness itself writing it, or God writing, or Awareness writing it, or the Source, or Allah, or Beingness...on and on, how many synonyms are there?...you tell me..anyway, he did a pretty good job...a little startling and profound, but really, right on!...please read this and many other non-duality books on the market, especially if you are still having trouble getting your heads around such seemingly outlandish ideas being tackled by the non-dualists...take all of it, or some of it for a test drive and see how it handles...I'm sure that if we really want to understand how this mystery works, we can...but, it's still a mystery at the end of the rainbow!...thank God for that (smile) peace, habsonfire ps...Dziuban's book is..."Consciousness Is All"...

Hello habsonfire,

I was looking at Google, and happened to see your mention of Consciousness Is All on the Oprah Message Board here. I just want to say thanks for your kind, generous comments. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the book--and thanks for helping to "spread the word."

Hi peterfdz,

...so happy to hear from you, and rest assured that I will keep "spreading the word"....any idea when that new book of yours, "So Be It" is due to hit the store shelves?...looking forward to it! ...peace, habsonfire

habsonfire,

Good to hear from you. "So Be It" still has a ways to go. I have a full manuscript, but on my last read-thru, I could see it still needs a lot of work. I haven't been able to get to it until recently, because there were some revisions I wanted to make to Consciousness Is All (just finished those).

I also wrote an article last year, "The New, True Infinity" which came out of working on So Be It, and I may develop the article into a small book. It, too, needs a bit more work. The essence of it is that the traditional concept of "infinity" still used in science, math, and philosophy is really just a big, vast, endless finity. True in-finity ( the word literally means no-finity) thus isn't a big finity, but NO finity whatsoever. It's not an endless measurement, but the absence of all measurement--and there is all the difference in the world between the two! In-finity is an exact synonym for Being. Anyway, now I'll have time to get back to those projects and move them along.

Let's stay in touch and I'll keep you posted as things go along. Also, please let me know if you come across any other mention of Consciousness Is All on Oprah's Message Boards. I recently sent a copy to Amy Gross, Editor In Chief of O Magazine...

peterfdz,

I like your idea about 'finity' and how science perceives it right now as infinity and how limited this is, and I understand how 'infinity' actually = Being/Consciousness/God, etc....it seems to me that you wrote of this in "Consciousness Is All" and I remember enjoying that at the time. Recently I was looking at "Consciousness Speaks (Conversations With Ramesh S. Balsekar)" and for some reason the book is resonating now to a much greater degree than it did when I first got it a few years back. Strange, and wonderful how things change. Anyway, on p. 22 Balsekar says..."All there is, is Consciousness. In that original state, call it Reality, call it Absolute, call it Nothingness, in that state there was no reason to be aware of anything. So Consciousness-at-rest was not aware of itself. It became aware of itself only when this sudden feeling, I Am, arose. I Am, is the impersonal sense of being aware. And that was when Consciousness-at-rest became Consciousness-in-movement, when potential energy became actual energy. They are not two. Nothing separate comes out of the potential energy......Consciousness-in-movement is not separate from Consciousness-at-rest. Consciousness-at-rest has become the Consciousness-in-movement, and that moment science calls the Big Bang the mystic calls the sudden arising of awareness." I liked that very much and I thought you would appreciate it too. I wish you and Balsekar could sit down and have a coffee together, and I could be that 'fly' on the wall. But I think he may be dead.(smile) Anyway, rest assured that I will be scouting these posts for any signs of your wonderful book, but I'm doubtful we'll see it here. I know it's been critiqued most positively at amazon, but I'm sure you are aware of that. peace, habsonfire ps...I'm amazed that you are actually able to revise "Consciousness Is All", but hey, it's your baby, and I look forward to "So Be It"...a question...what are your views on the work of Ken Wilber and his league of Integralists?...would they be leading edge, or what?...another point, how about you, Wilber, and Peter Russell getting together for a round-table discussion re: Consciousness?...that would rock!

habsonfire,

Sorry for the delay...I was away for a few days, and then I've had trouble accessing the message boards for some reason. Thanks for the tip on Balsekar. I'm familiar with the name, but not his work...I'll definitely check it out. I like Ken Wilber's work very much. I have much respect for him--an incredible scholar and philosopher. Some things we disagree on, and sometimes he's a bit too heady or analytical for me, but that's okay. My favorite book of his is, The Simple Feeling of Being--which actually is a book of excerpts from all his other writings, put together by his editors. I like Peter Russell's writing too. I sent copies of Consc. Is All to both of them, but never got a response, which is typical with well-known authors. They just get inundated with stuff. Like you, I sometimes think...wouldn't it be great to just talk with people like that? Nice to have them for next door neighbors or something. All the best, Peter

this is divinity finding you, and on Oprah at that. i don't listen to the radio, however i am on the last chapter of your book, and woke up from a nap, in a state of sheer panic feeling absolutely trapped with no escape. have been reading a series of non-duality books, the last by david carse titled perfect brilliant stillness which speaks as you ...that we are not here physically except in the mind as thought. i have been understanding each book, know, without knowing how i know, the truth that is, having no known misgivings or disgreements as i read. even in the past 2 days as i sleep "dreaming" i have been involved in situations relaying non duality, that upon waking i knew was important, only to not remember...(and yes i get that this is all not real) so after reading chapters 26 & 27 i fall asleep to nap. as i awaken i am so overcome with a dread, and for lack of better words, a panic as i feel trapped in my physical reality, knowing it is illusion, yet not at one with One through identified experience that i live as. so i had hoped to find you or david carse, as your books speak the same in a different expression to ask if this is what happens as the conditioned mind knows the gig is up? as i felt my terror, and did my best not to be it, strongly suspecting my reality is in major transition, and in it's threatened state is panicking, or i thought maybe i'm losing mind, and i may go crazy as i awaken from my conditioned illusions. did you ever feel you were going crazy? i feel as though i "know" the truth (as best as the mind can) as you say it, yet i don't live from there. i have not had the experience or ability that has truth be actuality instead of words i say/something i know. feel like i'm suffocating being caught between my old views and truth, and it's awful! the pleasures and situations which used to drive and motivate me, are of no relevance or interest to me anymore. most days i find people complaining or worrying about things that are so unimportant and irrelevant. many live their lives, as i did ,so distracted by thoughts and desires that they miss the magnificence they are now, simply being. and yet even as i say that and get that ...i feel it is something i know and i am not living as the consciousness i am. i cannot "go back" as that sham is up and am stuck falling down an abyss and no one knows what i'm talking about to be able to assist my predicament... can you help me please? in the moment of realization how did you not get stuck, or did you? how do you know you are not going crazy? i feel trapped in my life, which i understand isn't real, yet cannot seem to drop to uncover and be the truth i am..we all are. sorry this has been so hard to explain, yet i hope you understand what i am trying to say..realize. this place i am in now, is agonizing. i am deeply grateful for you..being you and all you have shared, namaste.

...duskmoon...I cannot speak for Peter or David, but I can speak for me...reading these books on non-duality can be disturbing to egoic mind structures( tread carefully)...I suggest you put them away for awhile and go back to them later...for now you appear to me to require some TLC...I know, I've been there...have you any books by Gerald G. Jampolsky?...may I suggest "Shortcuts To God"...he has provided us with easy to understand tools to make God (Consciousness) a functioning reality, and you must know right now that this is a priceless gift...believe me as I speak from my heart, sometimes in our attempts at awakening we take on too much to handle...if this happens, step back, relax, breathe (smile) and simplify...everything in it's own 'time', and just remember lovingly, that everything is right NOW...the thing is to 'chill' ...peace, habs ps...take what good you can from all the advice you will be hearing...remember, keep it simple, at least for now...there is no hurry...

thank you habs for your kindness, and taking the time to share. i felt better by the time i posted my message yesterday, and knew it was divine intervention being brought here to oprahs site to read all i did that you had said, and to now be responding to you. your advice is sound and wise. and i am touched by your caring. i am no stranger to all this like you, so was caught ogg gaurd having an experience that intense. thankfully along the way i learned i am not my fear, so being with fear is much diiferent than reacting to fear, otherwise i would probly still be whirling. and yes i began reading jamboloski in the 80's and have always found him to be a very gentle profound voice of love. i am going to read the book you mentioned, as that is about the third time that book has been brought to my attention. would enjoy getting back with you on that later as i can relate easily with you, and appreciate your feedback. in the interim gangajis book, diamond in your pocket, and the david carse are wonderful reads if you're looking for something else to read? again many thanks. namaste

Hi duskmoon,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As habs said, I don't get a chance to check the messge board every day.

As for your question (which it sounds like you answered for yourself)...

The "premise" of Consciousness Is All (and it's not just the premise of a book, but the very "premise" or TRUTH of Life Itself) is that, always, always, always, It is the Self Itself that is being conscious, being alive, existing. Self, One, Consciousness, Being, etc. is absolutely ALL the Presence there is, the ONLY Presence or Self there is. So...NEVER is there a need to worry that a "you" is not doing it properly, or that a "you" somehow got disconnected and must find its way back, or that a "you" is doing a lousy job of being Consciousness. There is no such "you." There never has been. Eternally, the One Perfect All-Self is being the only You there can be (which is Itself)--and It's already established, changeless, unalterable (because there is only Itself existent) so there's no possibility of "messing it up." Can you imagine Being Itself worrying about how good a job It is doing of being?! And this Utterly Unworried, Unstoppable, Un-go-away-able Ease of Being is You. This wonderful, infallible Ease of Being never is something that a Peter or a duskmoon can take credit for--it simply "goes with the territory" of Consciousness being conscious. It is NOT a big deal for Consciousness to be the Perfection It never fails to be! This is not a matter of a "you" having to do still more, better thinking about Truth. Rather it's the absence of thinking--and just "resting as" or being the simple, clear Alive Presence that NEVER FAILS to be present.

Take a look at Chap 6 again, "Whose Life Is It, Anyway?" and I think it will have even greater significance than when you read it the lst time.

It sounds like what you seemed to experience was (as you said) a sort of "shifting" or "letting go" of so-called human conditioning. Sometimes when we "get more acquainted" with True Identity, it seems the would-be conditioning, etc. of would-be human experience seems to suddenly stand out in "bold relief" because we're no longer operating on the same level as it. Yet not even that is really true, for, again, as the Self Itself is changelessly ALL THAT IS, It never has co-existed with any human experience or conditioning, and IT certainly doesn't have to get more acquainted with the Changeless Presence It cannot fail to be!!

If those, or other types of thoughts or feelings "seem" to pop up--they're not yours. How could such a thing belong to you--when Changless Total Perfection-As-All (You) simply precludes anything besides ITSELF occurring! Rather, just calmly, peacefully notice how perfectly Being always remains being. Keep constantly "looking out from" the effortless Presence of Pure Awareness--not from a dusk-moon state of thinking or emotions. Notice how Now, The Present, the Pure Consciousness being You, simply never, ever fails to be present. Notice how absolutely no effort is required for Now to fully be, for Being to fully be. Notice how absolutely UNAVOIDABLE, INESCAPABLE, Your Own Being is--and that no effort whatsoever is required in order for It to fully be present.

Don't let the would-be "thinking mind" try to make any of this about "you," because that "you" is not YOU. Always, always, always, Truth is entirely and ONLY about what Being is to ITSELF, what Pure Awareness is to ITSELF, what Pure Presence is to Pure Presence--which is the only YOU. This completely "precludes" a would-be Peter-self or duskmoon-self getting its foot in the door, and it would be the only one seeming to experience problems. The Self is Itself for Its own sake only. Why? There is ONLY Itself--which is the only You.

Hope that "answers" it...if not, let me know. Hello to habsonfire too!!
