You are an inspiration-I say if your looks are as good as they sound don't change a thing! If however it's sth you want to do for yourself apart from professional advice from hairdressers, makeup artists and stylists there are quite afew books and magazines around which advice women on such issues.Good luck!
I think I tend to wear too much make-up, dye my hair blonde, wear it longish naturally curly and dress on the young side. I like attention and that's how I get it; however, without getting frumpy, older-looking or plain, I would just like to make it a little more natural-looking. I don't want to look like I'm trying to look young or trying too hard. I'm kind of the opposite of a granola birkenstock chick. Any ideas? Miljak
miljak; if you truly want to change start at the make-up counter of your favorite department store-they'll do your make up for free-just let the salesgirl know what kind of look you are after....as for clothing-look at the catalogs for 40-50 year olds (chico's or black market white market) or shop with a girl friend that will be brutely honest with you.........i do have to say i'm wondering why you want to change to suit your new boyfriend-he was attracted to you because of the way you looked and dressed....take care................betty
**chuckling** well if your trying to be natural--then too much make-up is not that, dying your hair certain shades of blonde is not that, and dressing younger than what is appropriate for your age is not that. But finding ways to cut out the bold eye-shadows, and cheeky blush, and wearing natural make-up tones that compliment rather than make statements on their own would be a beginning. Is your hair color a "real" color? Do you add highlights AND lowlights? Or is it that bleached blonde color?
Clothes are so fun these days and we have so many options!! Choose clothes that are classy and stylish rather than too young. Stay out of the Juniors department. There are some wonderful options these days that DO NOT include elastic waistbands and moo-moos for us older women tht are actually in the Misses and Women's section. hehehe Go sit at the mall or a busy place with a notebook in hand and look for women around your age who you think are stylish. Write down the way they dress and model it until you get your own groove on!
I agree with you--there is nothing more tacky than an older women dressing like a 20-yr old in an attempt to look younger. In my opinion, it ages her even more.
Thanks, Betty. Good point. Sometimes what men think is a natural look takes more effort than they realize! Natural can mean diffeerent things to different people. I have decided to stick more with my view of myself in the mirror! Miljak
Thanks. I agree with you about the classic looks and I have begun observing other women. I am a very spirited fun-loving free-spirit type and so I have to reign it in sometimes or I can go overboard! I altered my look around my birthday and I'm feeling really good now! Miljak
