Wicca & Paganism
May 8, 2008 3:59 AM
Greetings all,
I am starting this thread to connect to others of like mind. I hope we can continue awakening and helping each other on our path. For those who don't know what wicca/ modern paganism is, it's basically a spirituality that reveres the Earth and all it's creatures. We do not proselytize to others to gain participants but if asked directly we will answer any questions we can about our path. While we appreciate and respect other paths and opinions as valid for each person, we do not "preach" so would appreciate the same respect in return. We are usually highly spiritual people, living our life every day with respect and worship of the Earth and God (dess). Hope to see some other pagans here.
Blessings,
Debby

Hello Debbie 101, Saw your message on the ANE thread and decided to pop in here. Great idea to come over here, as this board lends itself better, I think to what is discussed. ANE of course is not religious, but I found that most of the ANE threads kind of focused on the "Christian" element. I suppose because Tolle quoted often from Jesus words. Of course he mentioned words from several other sources.
Oakdragon started a thread about Pagan teachings that did not fare well, so I do hope that we can maintain this one.
I found ANE intuned to the earth based teachings. Most especially his encouragement to use the body as a vehicle to access our very aliveness. This body we inhabit is an "earth", and in taking care of our own earth it is reflected outward and can only be a guidence to take care of the planet we reside on. I know we are here to not only experience form, we are here to experience connection to the earth and all "forms" of life.
Namaste, Patee

Thank you Debby, for starting this thread. May it be a meeting place for people to talk of thier experiences and insights, their joys and challenges. May this space thrive in the spirit of curiosity, community, connection, respect, and understanding that we've been able to create the ANE thread.
Thank you Debbie for joining us here. It is perhaps significant that the first person to join Debby's thread is seeker in the Christian Traditions. It's also interesting that you are both "Debs."
Thank you Pattee for words as well. Having a Pagan space here is more apropriate, for our sharings are often not about ANE specifically.
Tolle spoke of getting beyond the labels in order to connect to the person more genuinely. Perhaps, through this space, more people will come to understand us as more than just the label "Pagan" and what that label means for so many out there.
So Mote It Be.

Dear Debbie...
Thank you for posting another mindset. A clear mind is most helpful on this message board especially, Spirituality.
I am somewhat familiar with Wiccans from a series of happenstance circumstances that lead me to research Earth Based traditions. In my limited understanding I find Wicca and Native American beliefs to be very similar. They both honor Mother Earth.
Quote from the Gospel of Thomas: Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you."
Also, Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [http://And after they have reigned they will rest.|http://And after they have reigned they will rest.]"

There appears to me a ritual of practices inherent in any belief. The ritual of going to Church on Sunday is one; the giving to the four corners would be another. The common denominator is Prayer. I have found everything to be sacred for without the Father/Grandfather Sun Mother Earth could not take care of Her Children. Respect thy father and mother has a whole new mysterious meaning.

But this is definitely not "Heartbreak Hotel" (sorry couldn't resist). Glad to see you here, HC! When are you going to get yourself an avatar?

Sounds good to me. I'm impressed that the more, uh, "enthusiastic" Christians haven't swooped down to try and "save" you, debby101.
The wicca and pagans sound pretty relaxed and on the more "to each their own" path, which TOTALLY, TOTALLY, TOTALLY works for me.
Keep posting - we need more, relatively speaking, "alternative" spiritual views here.
Thank you!

Avatar! What I'd like to know is how to make them big enough for my old eyes to see!? I have one picture I might have to dig out! HC

Hi everyone. I ate dinner with some of you the other night at Debbie's invitation. Hope you all are well. I'm a Christian, but I promise I won't stuff my beliefs down your throat, my chocolate chip cookies maybe next time when we get together, but not my beliefs. teehee.
