She's Governor Spitzer without the paying for sex aspect to it all; she lied to her family, the Senator lied to his, she broke trust and the honor of mariage by actively pursuing him. We have names for those kind of women where I come from, no? I know it takes two to tango - but thats my point - it takes two. How is she any different than him? - a man that she criticized daily for actions similiar to her own This is a woman who sits on a panel on The View during every week airing the personal lives of celebrities, politicians and famous businessmen/women and criticizes, ridiculous and bluntly opinionate on their misbehaviors and mistakes. I think it's contradictory on Ms. Walters' part to judge and criticize these people when she did the same thing by cheating on another woman's husband who was a known U.S. Senator. She criticizes Donald Trump, Rosie O'Donnell and Paris Hilton frequent times - all people I'm sure would never make fun and feel embarrassed of their mentally handicapped sister if they had one like Ms. Walters confessed to. Wow. How cruel. And this is a woman who we all dignify? So she can continue to voice her opinions and criticize people during Hot Topics who have done similiar actions - but I don't think her credibility will ever be the same on those topics.
I think she should keep her "affairs" private. This is just a way of making more money and revealing some of her PRIVATE situations. At this time in her life she should be living on her memories and enjoying them. I never thought she was a woman of this caliber to stoop to revealing all in a book. I always looked at her as a real LADY!! but I gues that does not exist anymore.

Couldn't have said it any better, Lucy. I'm glad I am not the only person that wonders how a woman who ridicules people on daily basis during Hot Topics when she has done measurable mistakes herself.
I really admire Barbara Walters! Especially after her many interviews over the years. She has shown us some great people, great memories...:8} I do miss seeing Rosie O'Donnell on The View, though. I cannot watch since she left. She was hilarious. The subject material is too boring, without Rosie's sense of humor about it all. I'll never forget the day Rosie was telling us about the 'HoMedics' products. I was LOL for days.

How is Barbara Walter's revalation going to affect people? First, because she's written a book and there's scandal in it, some people will buy it because they live for this crap! (They need to get a life!) Brooke's first wife is now dead, so at best, all she can do is spin in her grave. Question: Did Brooke's first wife have brothers, sisters, nieces or nephews? And if so, what will they get? The answer: Nothing....absolutely nothing....other than some possible embarassment. Brooke had two daughters from his first marriage. For years after Brooke divorced his first wife, the relationship with his daughters was strained, to say the least. These are the two women I feel most sorry for. Barbara's revalations will hurt these two women the most, and because of this, I don't think much of Barbara Walters. She proved that she had questionable morals when she had this affair, and she now proves that she is willing to put money and profits (from book sales) above hurting other people. No one is perfect, but there are just some things in life that we clearly know are wrong. When our actions hurt other people and that doesn't bother us, then I have no use for that person. Barbara Walters has the morality of an alley cat, and I'm not sure why she would want to publicize that. I guess there must be a point where money (book profits) trump morality, self-respect, and whether or not your actions will hurt other people. Shame on Barbara! Shame on Oprah! And shame on anyone who eats this kind of trash up because they have no life!

I agree, but I wonder aside from the fact that she is selling another expose' celebrity bio...her own this time....I wonder what else could be the reason she did something like this? Maybe she has found out she is ill and needs some kind of atonement? Gotta be more to this than making a buck......somehow.

I am not sure if you have ever listened to Ms.Walters, she has never shown insensitivity to anyone with regards to their personal life. Barbara Walters has chosen to share her life , recollections a in book .That does make her Mr. Spizer. there is no connection. She never solicited prostitues. We would not even know of her affair if she did not disclose it because the Senator had not chosen not to reveal what was a painful time or memories.

I think that was the better way. People tend to want make things that private salicious gossip. They jump to conclusions and want to make fun of people who have experienced. They do not tend to want to help just to joy in someone else's suffering. That has been my experience, we all have pain the better thing is not to talk about it with so called friends and to also be weary of the professionals we consult with for help. The society we live in has that tendency as well to look at the suffering of others and take pleasure it.

I'm so glad that so many others have written my thoughts! In addition to her appalling revelation, I also am upset that she, as a JOURNALIST, compromised her objectivity to SLEEP WITH A NEWS SOURCE. She was one of the first women journalists -- she was the one that women of my generation admired and wanted to emulate. She was one of the reasons I went to journalism school. But one by one our "Women's Movement" role models are crumbling before our eyes. Gloria Steinem ended up getting married, the "Roe" in Roe v Wade is a pro-lifer and now Barbara Walters admits she "slept" with a person whom she could have been covering as a journalist.
Now wonder the Women's Movement has been ignored by young women today -- so many of our role models turned out to just the same cheap liars as the men. Even worse, the old "lionesses" seem to be desperate to stay in the public eye any way they can.
This is such a shame. Barbara, give back your journalism awards.
